Which organs are affected by occlusion of the right and left internal iliac arteries?

Occlusion of the right and left internal iliac arteries mainly affects the pelvic tissues and organs, such as bowel, bladder, uterus, prostate, etc., as well as the lower limbs, gluteal muscles and penis. The internal iliac artery is divided into wall and dirty branches, which mainly supply blood to the iliopsoas muscle, gluteal muscle, rectum, uterus, penis, etc. Therefore, the above mentioned areas will be affected after occlusion of the internal iliac artery. There are two types of occlusion of internal iliac arteries: one is occlusion caused by blockage of blood vessels after thrombosis, which affects the blood supply organs of internal iliac arteries; the other is atherosclerosis of blood vessel wall, in which platelets, leukocytes, and red blood cells gather in the broken part after the blood vessel wall is broken, and then calcification, fibrosis, and eventually hardening to form plaques and blockage of blood vessels. The occlusion of the internal iliac artery may lead to serious consequences, if there is numbness and coldness of the lower limbs, pain and pallor and other signs of vascular occlusion, the iliac artery ultrasound examination should be carried out to clarify the cause of the disease. Early detection and early treatment must not be delayed, so as not to lead to ischemia of its blood-supplying organs or even paralysis of the lower limbs and other serious adverse consequences.
