Can you drink water with a UTI?

Uremic patients can drink water, but need to pay attention to the appropriate amount of intake according to their own situation, so as not to cause water overload.
The daily water intake of uremia patients should generally be equal to the previous day’s urine volume plus 500ml, and patients without urine are required to have no more than 5% weight gain during dialysis. Water intake includes water contained in various beverages, water, and food, so intake such as porridge and various fruits should be strictly controlled. If the patient is thirsty, it is recommended to gargle with warm water or hold small ice cubes in the mouth to relieve thirst.
However, patients with uremia have impaired excretion of metabolic wastes and water, which can easily lead to sodium and water retention and body swelling, so water intake needs to be controlled to avoid aggravation of edema, which can lead to complications such as heart failure aggravating the condition and endangering the life and so on.
Uremia patients are recommended to go to regular hospitals in time, under the guidance of the doctor standardized treatment.
