What is intestinal leukodystrophy

Intestinal leukoaraiosis is the intestinal manifestation of leukoaraiosis, mainly manifested as recurrent ulcers of the oral mucosa, erythema nodosum-like rash, subcutaneous thrombophlebitis and follicle-like rash. In the case of intestinal leukoplakia, the first step is to restrict activity, rest adequately, and give a liquid diet, which can be changed to a nutrient-rich diet with less residue when the condition improves. For patients with severe abdominal pain and blood in the stool, they should be absolutely quiet, given intravenous nutrition or enteral nutrition for support, and pay attention to the correction of water-electrolyte and acid-base balance disorders. Patients with anemia can be treated with blood transfusion. In patients with hypoproteinemia, human albumin can be supplemented appropriately. Antibiotics are ineffective in general cases. For patients with severe secondary infections, sensitive antibacterial drugs should be used for treatment. A broad-spectrum combination of drugs should be used, and a combination of anti-anaerobic drugs, such as metronidazole or ornidazole, is also needed. There are no specific drugs used to treat this disease, commonly used are aminosalicylic acid preparations, such as salazosulfapyridine, as well as cytostatic agents and glucocorticoids. For some patients, emergency surgery is also required, such as those with intestinal perforation, significant abdominal pain, abdominal percussion and masses, and deep ulcers that have failed to respond to conservative medical treatment. Surgery should be performed depending on the specific situation, usually ileocolic resection or right hemicolectomy.
