Where is the uterus located in the abdomen

The uterus is located in the lower abdomen, just behind the pubic symphysis. The position, size, and mobility of the uterus are not palpable under normal circumstances. In the presence of fibroids or adenomyoma, the uterus is significantly enlarged, even enlarged to the size of a fist, and the bulge can be palpated in the lower abdomen. In multiple uterine fibroids, the uterus is significantly enlarged and can be palpated in the abdomen as a bumpy uterus. A normal-sized uterus can only be palpated during a gynecologic double examination. If there is chronic inflammation in the pelvis, it is difficult to palpate the outline of the uterus if it is not mobile in the pelvis. In postmenopausal women with an atrophied uterus or an infantile uterus with congenital dysplasia, a very small uterus can be palpated after gynecologic duplex examination.
