What is dry skin syndrome?

At present, China has not yet formed a clear definition and diagnosis of dry skin syndrome, and tends to define it as a skin disease in which skin dryness is the main symptom, and dryness can lead to itching, but is not accompanied by inflammation.
Dry skin is a skin disease caused by seasonal factors, environmental factors, age factors, and disease factors, resulting in damage to the skin barrier and low water content of the stratum corneum, and is common among the elderly, occurring mostly in winter.
Dry skin syndrome can be divided into physiological and pathological, the former is common in premature infants and the elderly, manifested as dry skin, dull, lack of luster, roughness, scales, fine lines and other symptoms; the latter is related to a variety of diseases, such as hypothyroidism, atopic dermatitis, diabetes mellitus, malignant tumors and so on.
It is recommended that patients avoid frequent bathing, in addition to long-term exposure to ultraviolet light may be one of the triggering factors of this disease; pay attention to skin protection, avoid scratching, friction of the skin; pay attention to skin moisturizing, the use of moisturizing and hydrating skincare products, and to maintain a suitable degree of humidity of the environment; if necessary, under the guidance of a doctor to use medical moisturizers, mucopolysaccharide polysaccharide class of drugs and other treatments, to avoid the use of private medication, so as to avoid delays in the condition.
