About Gastroscopy

What is meant by gastroscopy? Many people may not understand it yet. Gastroscopy has been developed for more than 100 years and the technology is now relatively mature, but of course the technology is still evolving. It is performed with the help of a thin hose that enters the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum from the mouth and provides gastroenterologists with an intuitive clinical diagnostic basis by observing and understanding lesions in the gastrointestinal area through an electronic camera with a light source at the front of the tube. Gastroscopy is one of the best methods to diagnose diseases of the upper gastrointestinal tract. The most reliable method of examination for chronic gastritis and peptic ulcer is gastroscopy. Electronic gastroscopy was developed from fiberoptic gastroscopy. Since electronic gastroscopy is more technologically advanced, easier to use and more reliable than fiberoptic gastroscopy, most hospitals are currently equipped with electronic gastroscopy. From fiberoptic gastroscopy to electronic gastroscopy is a milestone in the history of endoscopy development, and with the development of technology and clinical needs, painless gastroscopy, magnifying gastroscopy, staining endoscopy, ultrasound endoscopy, etc. have evolved. General gastroscopy is a term that emerged to differentiate it from painless gastroscopy. General gastroscopy is to give the patient some local anesthetic for the throat and the patient is always awake to cooperate with the doctor to complete the gastroscopy. Painless gastroscopy, on the other hand, is a gastroscopy that is done under general anesthesia and the patient does not experience any process.
