Carboprost tromethamine, also known as Synthroid, is a medication that promotes uterine contractions and is often used clinically to prevent bleeding or stop bleeding after childbirth. As with other powerful contractions, the recommended dosage must be strictly followed. It must be administered by a healthcare professional in a hospital that is capable of providing timely medical supervision and emergency surgical equipment. This product does not directly affect the placental unit of the fetus, so the aborted fetus may show temporary signs of life after use of this product. This product should not be used if the fetus is already viable in utero.
