The side effects of Fenghui Huangqi Tang are not clear at present. If the patient is congested with water-dampness and the swelling is very serious, this formula is not suitable for him/her.
This formula is composed of Astragalus, Radix Astragali, Radix et Rhizoma Glycyrrhizae, Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae, Radix Atractylodis Macrocephalae, Radix et Rhizoma Ginger, Radix Jujubae, and has the effect of benefiting qi to dispel wind and invigorating the spleen to promote diuresis.
In the formula, Fang Ji dispels wind and promotes water, and Huang Qi benefits the qi and strengthens the surface, which together can dispel wind and remove dampness without harming the positive, and benefit the qi and strengthen the surface without attaching to the evil, so that the wind and dampness can be removed, and the surface deficiency can be strengthened. Atractylodes macrocephala replenishes qi, strengthens the spleen and dispels dampness, not only helps to dispel dampness and water, but also increases the power of astragalus to strengthen the surface; ginger, jujube and Yingwei (so that the body’s internal and external qi smooth, each in its own way), licorice and the middle, and can be adjusted to the medicines (and the different Chinese medicinal herbs).
