How soon can you walk after breaking your foot

The time you can walk after a broken foot is mainly determined by the extent of the injury after a broken foot, which may take about 2 weeks for mild cases and 4-6 weeks for severe cases. The time to put weight on the ground after a broken foot varies depending on the case. Most patients can walk in about 2 weeks after a mild foot fracture, which may only be accompanied by soft tissue damage around the ankle, and the swelling of the ankle is not very obvious. Some patients may have torn ankle ligaments after a broken foot, and these patients need strict braking for 4 weeks before they can walk. Some patients with more severe pain after a broken foot may have an avulsion fracture of the ankle or a fracture of the base of the fifth metatarsal bone, which requires strict braking for 4-6 weeks before walking. It is best to wear an ankle brace during early walking to prevent re-breaking of the foot. Patients with a broken foot require a systematic clinical examination with imaging to determine the time to walk on the ground.
