Can sublingual gland cysts heal on their own?

Sublingual gland cysts do not heal on their own. If this occurs, treatment must be taken. The sublingual gland is one of the three pairs of glands in the mouth that secrete saliva, which is then secreted into the mouth through the ducts of the sublingual gland. If for some reason the sublingual duct is damaged and blocked, the saliva cannot be discharged normally into the mouth, resulting in a sublingual cyst. Damage to the ducts of the sublingual gland does not heal on its own, so neither does a sublingual cyst. Sublingual cysts may affect the swallowing function and are very recurrent, requiring surgical excision, which takes about 10 days to heal. Special care should be taken during the recovery process of a sublingual cyst not to eat particularly dry foods, such as cookies.
