The most common cause of plantar fasciitis is when a patient gets up from a nap and has pain in the bottom of the foot. The typical symptom of plantar fasciitis is that the patient wakes up from a nap and has plantar pain on the first step down to the ground, which can be relieved after a few more steps. This is mainly due to excessive weight-bearing walking, such as walking up and down stairs, hiking, or excessive sports, which can cause an increased load on the plantar fascia, which can easily lead to high tension in the plantar fascia, resulting in a sterile inflammation of the plantar fascia, mainly manifested by pain in the plantar fascia and pain in the heel. Treatment starts with complete rest for 2-3 weeks, avoiding sports activities and excessive walking, and can be treated with hot compresses and daily foot soaks for half an hour, which can improve local blood circulation. If the symptoms are severe, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs can be used to treat the symptoms.
