Can’t diabetics eat dates?

Diabetics themselves have high blood sugar, so for diabetics, it is not possible to eat sweets, especially fruits with too much sugar. Of course, it should be clear that diabetic patients in the case of ideal blood sugar control, can also consider a small amount of fruit to supplement the body’s vitamin needs, but the choice of the type of fruit, or more strict. Generally, you should choose fruits with less than 10% sugar content, these fruits mainly include: apples, duck pears, strawberries, peaches, watermelon, etc. For some fruits with high sugar content such as: hawthorn, banana, red dates try not to use. Red dates, also known as jujube. Since ancient times, it has been listed as one of the “five fruits” (peach, plum, plum, apricot, date) and has a long history. The most prominent feature of jujube is its high vitamin content, which is known as a “natural vitamin pill”. However, the sugar content in jujube is very high, especially in dried jujube, the sugar content reaches 70%~80%, and its glycemic index is about 75, which is a high glycemic index food. It tends to cause large fluctuations in blood sugar. If diabetic patients eat, it is easy to cause blood sugar to rise and aggravate their condition. This is a nightmare for diabetics. This is why diabetics are most afraid of eating dates, not because they don’t want to eat them, but because they can’t eat them and don’t dare to eat them! In fact, diabetes itself is not terrible, as long as you do a good job of controlling sugar, there is no harm to your health. But what is scary is the complications caused by diabetes. Anemia is one of the more common complications for diabetics. We all know that red dates have the effect of replenishing blood, so if a diabetic is anemic, can he or she consume dates to replenish blood? I believe this is also a question for diabetics. The iron content of jujube is very low, only 2.3 mg per 100 grams of dried jujube, and it is non-heme iron, which is not highly digested and absorbed by the body. Therefore, it is difficult to improve anemia by eating dates alone. If diabetic patients have anemia, they can eat lean meat, animal liver, animal blood, etc., plus all kinds of fruits and vegetables, in order to achieve the real effect of blood supplementation.
