CT examinations are generally not recommended for pregnant women. If a pelvic CT must be performed, the preparation needed includes holding urine and removing metal objects.
1. Holding your urine: A pelvic CT examination requires holding your urine to keep your bladder full, which makes it easier to detect tiny lesions and tissue problems in the pelvis.
2. Remove metal objects: no matter which part of the body is undergoing CT examination, metal objects carried on the body need to be removed, such as earrings, necklaces, etc. The reason is that metal objects can produce high-density artifacts, which will affect the quality of the image, and there will be misdiagnosis and omission of diagnosis.
Pelvic CT examination should be required and the doctor should be consulted in detail about the precautions to be taken. When the preparation is done well, it helps the examination results to be more accurate. If no attention is paid before the examination, or the examination is not performed in the correct way, it may have an impact on the accuracy of the results.
