Fibrous tissue hyperplasia of the breast is not cancer. Fibrous tissue hyperplasia or active fibrous tissue occurs mostly between the ages of 18 and 25, when the high level of estrogen in the body stimulates the active proliferation of fibrous tissue in the gland, which tends to produce fibroadenoma of the breast. This is a benign tumor that can be completely cured after surgery. Breast cancer, on the other hand, mostly originates from the epithelial tissue of the breast and is an abnormal lump of epithelial tissue origin. Cancer requires aggressive treatment with post-operative chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Depending on the cancer, different treatment plans are decided. There is a fundamental difference between fibrous tissue hyperplasia and breast cancer. Therefore, fibrous tissue hyperplasia can be treated aggressively to avoid the possibility of cancer formation if it continues to develop.
