A hard lump in the flesh of the earlobe, feel the location, size and hardness. If it is relatively hard and similar to bone, it may be a chondroma, or it may be a small bone, bone spur or osteophyte that has suddenly appeared on the cartilage of the ear. If it occurs in the soft tissue of the earlobe, it may be a keloid, sebaceous cyst, or lipoma. Touch this bump to see if it hurts, if it is hard, its location, borders, size, mobility and if it affects hearing. If hearing is affected you must promptly go to the hospital for a color Doppler ultrasound to see if there are lymph nodes and if necessary a biopsy to find out the source of the hard lump and the next step in treatment under the doctor’s guidance. Do not squeeze and rub the raised area to prevent infection and avoid spicy and irritating foods.
