How to treat worn and sunken large teeth

The treatment of worn-out sunken teeth also depends on the degree of wear of the affected tooth. If the wear is simply in the enamel layer and the patient has no conscious symptoms, the patient is advised to change his habits to reduce the later wear and it does not require much treatment. If the wear reaches the mid-dentin layer and the patient experiences soreness, prophylactic filling or desensitization is recommended to significantly improve the patient’s symptoms. If deep dentin is reached and significant pulpal or periapical disease is present, patients are advised to undergo root canal treatment followed by full crowns, inlays, and high inlays to restore the affected tooth and reduce the later wear of the affected tooth. If the whole mouth, many rows of teeth or some consecutive teeth are sunken, patients are advised to have jaw pads, which can prevent wear by improving habits.
