Minoxidil is mainly indicated for the treatment of patchy baldness and androgenetic alopecia with hair growth.
Minoxidil is available in three dosage forms: application, tincture and spray. The indications are mainly for the treatment of male pattern baldness (androgenetic alopecia) and patchy baldness, which can stimulate the growth of hair in the above two types of patients, and may also be used for people with acquired hair thinning. The exact mechanism by which this product treats hair loss has not been clarified and may be related to dilation of blood vessels at the scalp.
A common adverse reaction is dermatitis but to a lesser extent, and other adverse reactions such as erythema, dizziness, burning pain, hypersensitivity, and changes in blood pressure have also been reported. It is contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity to minoxidil or any other ingredient.
Note that if there is injury or scarring at the scalp, it is not effective for this area. The medicine should not be taken orally or applied to other parts of the body, but only applied locally to the scalp.
If the local irritation of the scalp after topical application of Minoxidil is severe, it is recommended to go to the hospital in time, and the medication should be administered under the supervision of a doctor.
