Drug rash is an allergic reaction caused by drugs entering the body through oral administration, injection, suppository use or inhalation on the skin and mucous membranes, which can involve all systems of the body or even be life-threatening in severe cases. Most drugs can cause drug rash, but whether they cause drug rash depends on individual factors, drug factors and infection factors. Drugs that often cause drug rash include antibiotics such as penicillin, cephalosporins, sulfonamides, etc.; antipyretic and analgesic drugs; sedative, hypnotic and antiepileptic drugs that act on the central nervous system; antigout drugs; and serum products. In mild cases, there are only skin discomfort symptoms such as erythema and itching; in severe cases, it can cause generalized epidermal exfoliation or necrosis, extensive mucosal erosion, and damage to various systems, leading to death or a variety of sequelae such as blindness after survival. Therefore, once drug rash occurs, it should be treated promptly and without delay. The first thing to do with drug rash is to stop using all suspected allergenic drugs, clarify the allergenic drugs under the guidance of a physician, and note them on the medical record card to avoid reuse. The treatment of mild drug rash is relatively simple, but hospitalization is necessary for heavy drug rash of the severe erythema multiforme type, the herpetic epidermal necrolysis-relaxation type, the erythrodermic or exfoliative dermatitis type, the drug-induced hypersensitivity syndrome and other types of heavy drug rash, as well as the urticarial drug rash with abdominal pain or shock. The daily life and care of patients with heavy drug rash should be noted: 1. Maintain an optimistic and cheerful mood and actively cooperate with the medical staff in treatment and care. 2, drink more water to help promote the excretion of drugs in the body. 3.Eat early and strengthen nutrition. Give high protein diet, drink more fresh milk; supplement high vitamin food such as fruits, and drink fresh juice or vegetable juice for those who have difficulty in eating. 4.When you have oral cavity and perineal erosion, you should keep your oral cavity and perineum clean; if you have eye erosion, you should try your best to open your eyes and apply eye ointment more than twice a day. 5.Once you can sit up or go down to the ground, take more sitting position and move down appropriately to reduce the occurrence of various complications. 6. Outpatient follow-up to clarify allergenic drugs. “Drug rash and allergic skin disease”. After years of research, the Department of Dermatology at Ruijin Hospital found that the occurrence of some heavy drug rashes with multi-organ damage is associated with viral infections. Therefore, it is recommended to actively search for the basis for the involvement of viral infections in the pathogenesis of the disease under the guidance of physicians, which is beneficial for future prevention and treatment. The Department of Dermatology of Ruijin Hospital has its own standard for the treatment of heavy drug rash and has achieved zero mortality, complications and sequelae after more than 10 years of practice.
