A feeling of constriction in the neck may be due to the protrusion or prolapse of the nucleus pulposus of the cervical vertebrae, which compresses the nerve roots at the back, resulting in limited sensory abnormality or pain, clinically known as nerve root cervical spondylosis.
Neurogenic cervical spondylosis is mostly caused by chronic strain or acute trauma. Due to the frequent daily activities of the cervical region, the degree of activity is large, and it is easy to be traumatized, such as engaging in long-term head-down work and long-term use of computers, which causes atrophy and degeneration of the intervertebral discs, reduced elasticity, bulging out in all directions, and narrowing of the intervertebral space, and then there is hyperplasia of the anterior and posterior margins of the vertebral body and the hooked vertebrae joints, changes in the relationship between the small joints, vertebral subluxations, and narrowing of the foramen, and a series of other changes, and when such strain changes affect the nerve root, it is easy to have a feeling of constriction in the neck. When such strain changes affect the nerve roots, the phenomenon of a binding sensation in the neck is likely to occur.
There may also be other reasons for the feeling of neck constriction, it is recommended to go to the hospital in a timely manner, improve the examination to clarify the cause of the disease, and then give targeted treatment or standardized treatment.
