Omicron variant strains may have an effect on male fertility. The vascular dysfunction or endothelial dysfunction that may be caused by the Omicron variant may lead to erectile dysfunction, commonly known as impotence, which may have an impact on fertility if not treated in a timely manner. A small percentage of men who recover from Omicron variant infection experience a decrease in sperm count and motility, or even testicular damage, which in turn affects fertility. This is currently seen in moderately to severely ill recovered patients. In addition to affecting fertility, Omicron variant may also have respiratory, neurological and psychological sequelae. It is recommended that patients infected with omicron variant should seek medical attention if they develop symptoms after recovery and follow medical advice.
