Effects of loofah

The effects of loofah are dispelling wind and promoting blood circulation, removing blood stasis, and promoting menstruation and lactation.
Loofah is the vascular bundle of the mature fruit of loofah, Cucurbitaceae. Its main medicinal properties are sweet and flat. It belongs to lung, stomach and liver meridians. Its basic effects are dispelling wind, clearing blood stasis, activating blood circulation and lowering lactation.
It is clinically used in treating paralysis, distension and pain in the chest and ribs, inability to pass milk, and pain and swelling of carbuncle (a purulent disease in which the breasts are red, swollen and painful and the milk is not discharged properly).
This product is sweet, gentle and flat, light and fluent, good at dispelling wind and opening channels, used for rheumatism and paralysis, tendon contracture (muscle tension and stiffness), more into the compound formula, or as an adjuvant medicine. This product enters the liver meridian, can open the meridians and channels, and blood, commonly used for chest and hypochondrium distension and pain with stagnation of qi and blood. This product enters the liver and stomach meridians, and can promote lactation and milk secretion. It can be used to treat postpartum deficiency of qi and blood, low milk supply and impassable milk.
