There is no way to judge whether it is better to reconstruct or install breast prosthesis after breast cancer surgery. Both ways have disadvantages and benefits, which should be determined according to the patient’s own situation. 1. Breast reconstruction: Breast reconstruction requires surgery, so that the shape and feel of the breast can be similar to the original breast. However, there are some disadvantages. The procedure is complicated and requires the patient to take his/her own tissue from the abdominal wall or the back for repair or implantation of prosthesis, so the patient needs to undergo another trauma, in addition to the breast cancer surgery site, the patient also has to undergo trauma at the site of extraction, which may cause pain, adverse activities or even affect the function. 2. Wearing breast prosthesis: It is mainly worn after breast cancer surgery, which can maintain the basic shape of the breast, without the need for another surgery and trauma. However, as it is close to the skin, wearing it for a long time may cause adverse effects on the local skin, leading to dermatitis, allergy, etc. Moreover, wearing the prosthesis is not stable, which may cause embarrassment in life. The two methods need to be decided according to the patient’s own situation, during which the patient should keep optimistic mood to accept the treatment.
