If the lithotripsy is unsuccessful, you can consider repeat lithotripsy or surgery to remove the stone.
1. Repeated extracorporeal lithotripsy: Patients who have unsuccessful extracorporeal lithotripsy because of the location of the stone can consider repeated extracorporeal lithotripsy, with an interval of more than 10~14 days to minimize complications, and the number of extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy should not be more than 3~5 times.
2. Percutaneous nephrolithotripsy: Percutaneous nephrolithotripsy is suitable for patients who need surgical intervention, direct kidney stones over 2cm, complete or incomplete staghorn stones, extracorporeal shock wave can not be crushed and failed stones.
Surgical treatment requires preoperative comprehensive assessment of the patient’s condition, to choose the best treatment program. It is recommended to actively seek medical treatment as prescribed by the doctor.
