Ken’s classification of missing teeth

There are four types of missing teeth Ken’s: 1. Both posterior teeth are missing; 2. Unilateral posterior teeth are missing and remaining teeth are present; 3. One posterior tooth is missing but there are teeth in the front and back; 4. Anterior teeth are missing and there are consecutive missing anterior teeth that cross the midline and all the remaining teeth are posterior to the missing tooth position. In the clinic, we can see a variety of different types of missing teeth patients, even the whole mouth missing teeth. Different restorative methods are usually used for different situations and types. For example, one type of bilateral free loss, bilateral back teeth are missing, in the past can only be restored with movable prosthesis, now can be restored with dental implants, to achieve the effect of fixed prosthesis restoration. For example, the fourth category, the continuous loss of anterior teeth, because it involves aesthetics, so the restoration is very difficult, very demanding, and now can be used in a fixed prosthesis, but also can be used in the implant denture way, very good restoration of anterior teeth as well as restoring the aesthetic.
