Menthol is pungent and cool in nature. It belongs to the lung and liver meridians. It is mainly used for wind-heat colds, headache, eye redness, paralysis of the throat (redness, swelling and pain in the throat, or dryness, foreign body sensation, or itchy and discomfort in the throat, difficulty in swallowing), distension and stuffiness of the chest and ribs (chest and ribcage area collectively), and so on. This product is contraindicated for those with yin deficiency and blood dryness, liver-yang partial hyperactivity, and superficial deficiency with excessive sweating.
1. With Chrysanthemum: Chrysanthemum is sweet, bitter and slightly cold in nature. It belongs to lung and liver meridians. It has the efficacy of dispersing wind-heat, calming the liver and clearing the eyes, and removing heat and toxins. It is mainly used for wind-heat colds, headache and dizziness, redness and swelling of the eyes, and dimming of the eyes. This product is contraindicated for people with Yang deficiency or headache and cold (fear of cold).
2. With honeysuckle: honeysuckle is sweet in flavor and cold in nature. It belongs to the lung, heart and stomach meridians. It has the effect of clearing heat and removing toxins, evacuating wind-heat. Mainly used for fever and blood dysentery (feel the dysentery caused by heat, see blood in the stool), wind-heat cold and other conditions of treatment. It is not recommended for people with deficiency of spleen and stomach, coldness and Qi deficiency sores (skin diseases caused by internal invasion of poisonous evils, resulting in stagnation of Qi and blood) and pus clearing.
The adverse effects of the above drugs are not known. Peppermint can be used with chrysanthemum, honeysuckle and other drugs, but infusion is different from decoction, its efficacy can not be fully realized, and it can not replace the medication to treat the disease.
