What is the prognosis for pathological fractures?

The prognosis of pathological fractures is closely related to the cause of the fracture; if the cause is osteoporosis, septic osteomyelitis, etc., the prognosis is generally better with timely and correct management of the primary disease and elimination of the cause.
If the etiology is metastatic bone tumours such as osteosarcoma, the prognosis is generally poor if the primary disease is aggressive and poorly treated.
