Common symptoms of liver abscess are chills, high fever, right upper abdominal pain with loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting and, rarely, abdominal distention and diarrhoea. There are also symptoms such as cough, tightness of breath and chest pain, and on examination there is enlargement of the liver area, pain in the liver area, pain on percussion, and in a few cases jaundice.
