Talking about liver abscesses

The disease usually has an acute onset, and because of the rich blood flow in the liver, once septic infection occurs, a large amount of toxins enter the circulation and can cause a systemic septic reaction. Clinically, it is often followed by some kind of prodromal disease (such as biliary ascariasis) with sudden onset of chills, high fever and pain in the liver area. The main clinical manifestations are as follows: 1. chills and hyperthermia The patient feels chills suddenly at the beginning of the disease, followed by hyperthermia, the fever is mostly flaccid, the body temperature is 38℃~40℃, up to 41℃, alternating chills and fever, accompanied by a lot of sweating, the pulse rate increases, several times a day, can be repeated. 2.Pain in the liver area Inflammation causes enlargement of the liver, resulting in acute swelling of the liver peritoneum and persistent dull pain in the liver area; severe pain often indicates a solitary abscess; persistent dull pain in the early stage of abscess, often sharp and severe pain in the later stage, and aggravated with breathing often indicates an abscess on the top of the liver diaphragm; sometimes the pain can radiate to the right shoulder, and the left liver abscess can radiate to the left shoulder. 3.Gastrointestinal symptoms Due to the systemic toxic reaction and continuous consumption, gastrointestinal symptoms such as weakness, loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting are more common. A few patients may show more serious illnesses such as mental depression in a short period of time, and a few patients may have diarrhea, abdominal distension or more persistent erratic symptoms. 4.Signs Pressure pain in the liver area and hepatomegaly are most common; percussion pain in the right lower chest and liver area; sometimes reactive pleurisy or pleural effusion on the right side; if the abscess is located on the surface of the liver, the intercostal skin in the corresponding area shows redness, fullness, tenderness and concussive edema; if the abscess is located in the right lower part, it is common to have fullness in the right quarter rib area or right upper abdomen, and even a limited elevation is visible, and the enlarged liver or fluctuating In advanced cases, the patient may present with an accumulation of fluid in the abdominal cavity.
