Liver islands are usually medically one of the typical manifestations of heterogeneous fatty liver and require prompt medical treatment once fatty liver is detected.
Hepatic islands are usually mainly fatty tissues with uneven density in the liver, usually caused by irregular fatty liver. In patients with fatty liver, localized steatosis occurs in the liver due to lipid metabolism disorder, which causes some liver cells to contain many vacuoles. When normal liver cells are mixed with unevenly dispersed fatty liver cells, they can be distributed in the middle in the form of islands, which is therefore known as hepatic islands.
In addition, liver islands can also be found in color ultrasound with localized abnormal echoes, or irregular low-density shadows in CT scanning, and further examination is needed to make a clear diagnosis if there is any abnormality.
