BCG vaccine is a live attenuated bacterial vaccine intended to prevent the development of tuberculosis. Tuberculosis is a chronic infectious disease caused by infection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The bacillus may invade various organs throughout the body, but mainly attacks the lungs and is called tuberculosis. Tuberculosis, also known as consumption and the “white plague,” is an ancient infectious disease. Tuberculous meningitis is a form of extrapulmonary tuberculosis, a non-suppurative inflammation of the meninges caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, often secondary to cornual tuberculosis or other organ tuberculosis lesions. BCG vaccination of babies has a significant effect on the prevention of this type of tuberculosis. The invention of vaccines has been a boon to mankind, and the incidence of many difficult diseases has been greatly reduced by vaccines. However, the vaccine is, after all, a live attenuated vaccine, so after BCG vaccination, the injection site can become septic, and it is important to take care of it carefully at this time. Can I get water after BCG vaccine septicemia? Usually, about 3 weeks after BCG vaccination, the vaccination site will become red and swollen, gradually softening in the middle and forming small white pustules, which will break down and discharge pus. The above process usually lasts for about 2-3 months. Do not touch water after BCG vaccination, but if you get water, do not worry too much, pay attention to the cleanliness and hygiene of the vaccination site and do not get infected, it will not affect the health of the baby and the vaccination effect. If you need to take a bath after BCG vaccination, you can wrap the area with sterile gauze or a clean handkerchief to avoid getting water on it. When cleaning the baby’s vaccination site, you need to clean it with cool boiled water and absorb the water with gauze, and pay attention to keeping the vaccination site dry and clean. Precautions after BCG vaccination: 1. Observe for at least 15 minutes after vaccination to see if there is an allergic reaction, etc.; 2. Keep the vaccination site clean, cut the baby’s nails diligently so as not to accidentally scratch the injection site and cause infection, and also change the baby’s underwear diligently; 3. Do not use alcohol or iodine to disinfect the ruptured area so as not to affect the effect of the vaccine. If the breakout is serious, you can take your child to the hospital; 4. When bathing your baby, try to avoid getting water on the vaccination site, and if you accidentally get water on it, use clean gauze to absorb it as soon as possible; 5. If your baby has swollen lymph nodes less than 1cm and no abscess after BCG vaccination, you can apply hot compresses, preferably at a temperature of 40-45°C, so as not to burn your baby. The temperature of the hot compress is best at 40-45℃ to avoid burning the baby, each time the hot compress lasts 10-15 minutes, and the hot compress can be applied 3-4 times a day. If there is an abscess, you must go to the hospital and not deal with it at home by yourself.
