Shoulder pain due to breathing movements may occur for the following reasons: 1. The presence or absence of cervical ribs in patients. Cervical ribs do not exist in most people because most people’s cervical ribs have degenerated. In some people, however, the cervical ribs are not degenerated, and there are symptoms of pain and numbness in the shoulder or even the arm due to breathing movements that stimulate the nerves. This is most often seen in the seventh cervical vertebra, because of the presence of the cervical ribs, the thoracic undulation movement when breathing, and the relative immobility of the cervical ribs will stimulate the peripheral nerves and cause radiating pain.2. Patients with frozen shoulder may also have this symptom. This is usually seen in patients with severe frozen shoulder, where the adhesions of the frozen shoulder are more serious and the shoulder movement is restricted while doing breathing exercises, causing shoulder pain. Patients with this condition usually have shoulder pain and restricted shoulder movement.
