The common causes of hoarseness for several months are vocal cord nodules, vocal cord polyps and laryngeal cancer.
1. Vocal cord nodules: if the singer, teacher and other occupations with voice fatigue, can lead to the growth of symmetrical nodule-like elevations in both sides of the vocal folds and the junction of the front and middle 1/3 of the vocal folds, i.e., vocal cord nodules, which belongs to the chronic laryngitis, the voice becomes hoarse under the continuous stimulation of inflammatory factors.
2. Vocal polyps: If benign hyperplastic lesions are produced in the superficial layer of the lamina propria of the vocal folds, i.e., vocal polyps, which are often caused by excessive use of voice, reflux pharyngitis and diabetes mellitus, etc., the main clinical symptom is hoarseness of voice.
3. Laryngeal cancer: when there are malignant tumors on the vocal cords, they can destroy the normal tissue cells on the vocal cords, which will adversely affect the function of vocal cords, and may be manifested as hoarseness for several months.
If you have a hoarse voice for several months, you must go to the hospital in time to find out the cause of the disease and actively cooperate with the professional doctor’s treatment.
