Fever with tonsillar suppuration takes several days

In purulent tonsillitis, fever usually lasts about 3-5 days because purulent tonsillitis is an acute hemolytic streptococcal infection, which causes sudden onset of high fever with temperature above 38 degrees 5, muscle aches, muscle weakness, headache, sore throat, foreign body sensation in the throat and other related symptoms in the patient. On examination, the tonsils are seen to be enlarged bilaterally, significantly congested, and covered with white pseudomembranes or pus moss and pus plugs. In terms of treatment, purulent tonsillitis requires oral or infusion therapy. Because it is a streptococcal infection, it is sensitive to cephalosporins and can be treated with oral cefuroxime, cefaclor, cefixime, amoxicillin, penicillin V potassium tablets, as well as oral roxithromycin, azithromycin, erythromycin, etc. If the fever is severe, the patient can also be given glucocorticoids to lower the temperature and relieve the mucosal congestion and edema in the throat. However, there is a process of fever, usually the patient will have repeated fever for 3-6 days, and when the inflammation gradually subsides, the patient will be gradually cured, and the approximate course of treatment is about one week.
