Can a cavity be filled?

Cavities can certainly be filled and it is advisable to do so as early as possible as early stage cavities can have a very good clinical outcome simply by being filled. Tooth decay, also known as dental caries, is a disease of decay and disintegration caused by bacteria invading the hard tissues of the teeth. For tooth decay, medication is definitely not able to remove the root cause because bacteria already exists in the hard tissues of the decayed tooth, and the decayed part of the tooth must be removed by means of turbo-drilling in order for the disease to be cured at its root. For early to mid-stage caries, the clinical results can be very good by simply removing the decay and filling the cavity. However, once the decay reaches the pulp and causes symptoms of pulpitis, further root canal treatment is required, followed by crown restoration to protect the decayed tooth.
