Acute myeloid leukemia is cured by several courses of chemotherapy

How many courses of chemotherapy for acute myeloid leukemia can cure the disease is related to its type of leukemia and individual’s physical condition, so it is not possible to judge the exact number of courses. Chemotherapy for AML is divided into induction therapy and consolidation therapy. 1. 1~2 cycles of induction therapy will be carried out first, and the drugs include cytarabine and zorubicin. 2. When the disease is in complete remission, 3~4 cycles of consolidation and intensive treatment will be carried out, with the same drugs as above. Acute myeloid leukemia type m3 can be cured mainly by induction and differentiation therapy (arsenite, retinoic acid), but it is longer and lasts for 2~3 years. For the other types of AML, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation can be done after 1-2 courses of induction therapy followed by 3-4 courses of consolidation therapy, and if there is a suitable donor, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation can be done. If the diagnosis of AML is confirmed, it is recommended to go to the hospital in time and under the guidance of the doctor for standardized treatment to reduce the adverse effects.
