What is the pain in the hips and calves?

Pain in the hips and calves may be caused by a herniated lumbar disc compressing the sciatic nerve radiating to the hips and calves, accompanied by painful symptoms in the lower back. It may also be caused by the presence of different causes in the crotch and calf, such as across the bone, which may be caused by hip synovitis, femoral head necrosis, and degenerative osteoarthritis, and in the calf, which may be caused by local muscle strain or lactic acid accumulation after exercise, and localized places such as bone cysts, osteochondroma, osteosarcoma, and giant cell tumor of bone. Local infectious diseases such as cellulitis may also cause pain and localized redness and swelling may occur. The presence of obvious disc herniation can be determined by magnetic resonance imaging of the lumbar spine, and the hips and calves can be routinely X-rayed to understand whether there are any obvious abnormalities in the bones.
