The treatment of prolactinoma includes three main types of treatment: first, the use of medication, of which the more commonly used is bromocriptine, which can effectively inhibit the secretion of prolactin and, at the same time, reduce the size of the pituitary tumor to a certain extent, so that most patients can become very small or effectively suppress hyperprolactinemia after medical medication. The second type, surgical excision, can be used for pituitary prolactinomas that are not tolerated by medication or have more obvious symptoms, larger tumors, and compression symptoms. The surgical options are craniotomy and transsphenoidal surgery. The third type, irradiation treatment of the pituitary gland, is also a destructive irradiation method.
