How to treat acute illnesses with acupuncture?

Post-surgical gastrointestinal paralysis includes delayed emptying syndrome after major gastrectomy and some other post-surgical causes of gastrointestinal motility dysfunction, also known as inflammatory bowel obstruction. It is not uncommon clinically. Among them, FDGE is now generally considered to be a disturbance of the normal motor function of the stomach and distal jejunum after major gastrectomy. Recent studies further suggest that: due to vagus nerve resection or injury, the ability of the stomach to store and mechanically digest food is reduced; after distal gastric resection and gastrojejunostomy, small intestinal contents containing bile flow back into the stomach, causing a series of changes such as gastric acid, hormone and enzyme secretion and mucosal injury interfering with the normal function of the stomach. Other surgically induced gastrointestinal motility disorders may be related to surgical anesthesia. The current treatment of the disease mainly includes gastrointestinal motility drugs and total gastrectomy, which is ineffective and has a small scope of application. After nearly ten years of clinical exploration, we have summarized nearly three hundred clinical cases and achieved remarkable results by using traditional Chinese medicine acupuncture therapy. It effectively promotes the movement of gastrointestinal smooth muscle, increases the depolarization potential of gastric smooth muscle, enhances the contraction of gastrointestinal smooth muscle, and promotes the secretion of gastrointestinal glands. The prescription is fixed, the operation is simple, the procedure is standardized, and the treatment of gastrointestinal paralysis is clinically effective, effectively promoting the recovery of surgical patients and reducing malnutrition, postoperative wound infection, and functional intestinal obstruction due to long-term non-peristalsis of the stomach and intestines.
