Recipe for Licorice and Scutellaria Tang

In the Four Sacred Sources of the Heart, Volume 8, Licorice and Scutellaria Soup is formulated with 2 qian of licorice, 2 qian of scutellaria, 3 qian of poria, 3 qian of hemixia, and 3 qian of gypsum. Radix Scutellariae Radix Scutellariae Radix belongs to traditional Chinese medicine formula, which has the efficacy of removing dampness-heat from the middle Jiao, harmonizing the spleen and stomach, strengthening the spleen, and dispelling dampness, and is mainly used for treating the evils of dampness-heat that vaporize the upper Jiao and make the breath smelly and foul-smelling. In this formula, Poria removes fire-heat and poisonous evils from the body, Semixia removes dampness and resolves phlegm, lowers rebelliousness and stops vomiting, Gypsum clears stomach fire and removes irritability to quench thirst, Scutellaria baicalensis removes heat and dries dampness (removes heat evils and dries dampness), clears and removes fire-heat and poisonous evils and Licorice replenishes the middle-heat and Qi.
