What causes strabismus in children

Strabismus in children may be caused by congenital diseases, family heredity, birth abnormalities, eye position separation and other factors.
1. Congenital diseases: Strabismus may occur in children with congenital developmental abnormalities of the eye tissues, such as Down’s syndrome, congenital extraocular muscle defects and so on.
2. Family Heredity: People in the family of strabismus patients have similarities in the anatomy and physiology of the eye, and anatomical abnormalities can lead to the inheritance of strabismus.
3. Abnormal birth: Difficult labor, intrauterine asphyxia, forceps delivery may lead to eye tissue damage and cause strabismus.
4. Eye separation: usually caused by acquired factors, such as refractive error, insufficient function of eye convergence separation, abnormal visual function, etc. Eye separation can lead to strabismus.
