What is hemoptysis in the middle and late stages of squamous lung cancer?

Hemoptysis in middle and advanced stage of squamous lung cancer is related to the invasion of blood vessels by cancer cells, adverse reaction of related treatment and other factors.
1. Invasion of blood vessels by cancer cells: For patients with middle and advanced stage of squamous lung cancer, hemoptysis may occur due to destruction of blood vessels and bronchial mucosa by cancer cells; when bronchial arteries or branches of pulmonary arteries are destroyed, the patients are prone to hemoptysis. Meanwhile, necrosis of lung tumor in the absence of nutrition or reduced blood supply may also cause blood in sputum and hemoptysis.
2. Adverse reaction of related treatments: hemoptysis in the middle and late stages of some squamous lung cancers is related to the adverse reactions caused by radiation therapy and chemotherapy. Radiation therapy and chemotherapy can not only destroy cancer cells, but also easily damage normal tissues and cells, thus causing hemoptysis, hair loss, nausea and vomiting and other uncomfortable symptoms.
3. Other reasons: when squamous lung cancer patients suffer from lung infection, hemoptysis can be caused by ulceration of local submucosal blood vessel wall. If squamous lung cancer has metastasized and caused pulmonary hypertension, aortic aneurysm, pulmonary infarction, etc., it is easy to cause hemoptysis.
It is suggested that patients with middle and advanced stage of squamous lung cancer who suffer from hemoptysis should actively cooperate with doctors for examination, and follow the doctor’s instruction for treatment after clarifying the cause.
