Clinically there is no such thing as a lumbar bulge, it should be a lumbar disc bulge or herniation. When a lumbar disc is herniated, it squeezes the nerve roots that pass through the lumbar disc level, and when the nerve roots are irritated, they cause pain in the muscles they innervate.
The sciatic nerve consists of a convergence of nerve roots that emanate from the dural sac in the lumbosacral region, pass through the pelvis, and reach down to the feet, innervating sensation and movement in the lower extremities. When the nerve roots that make up the sciatic nerve travel through the lumbar disc level and are stimulated by the extrusion of a herniated lumbar disc, the lower extremities that are primarily innervated by the nerve roots will experience pain.
When the symptoms of lumbar disc herniation appear, bed rest, moderate exercise, manipulative massage, medication, etc. are needed to relieve the squeezing and stimulation of the nerve root, and the pain sensation in the lower limbs will disappear.
If the symptoms of leg pain appear, you should go to the hospital in time to avoid delaying the condition.
