Generally, coitus is allowed 3 to 6 months after perineal radiotherapy. Radiotherapy is commonly used to treat tumors, and radiation destroys tumor cells and may damage normal tissues at the same time.
After perineal radiotherapy, the vaginal area and the tissues around the vagina will be damaged by radiation, which may cause the decrease of vaginal mucous membrane secretion, vaginal contracture and other changes. If you have intercourse before the vaginal area recovers from radiation therapy, it may lead to failure of intercourse or even vaginal damage. Generally, you can start having intercourse after 3~6 months after radiotherapy to make sure that you have recovered well.
It takes time to recover from perineal radiotherapy, so you should avoid unnecessary damage caused by intercourse, avoid frequent and strenuous exercise, and pay attention to your diet and work routine. If there is any discomfort, go to the regular hospital for consultation in time to avoid delaying the condition and causing adverse reactions.
