What’s with the heart skipping a beat?

A pause in the heartbeat may be caused by premature beats, myocardial ischemia, sinus arrest and other causes.
1. Premature beats: premature impulses from ectopic cardiac pacing points lead to corresponding beats in the heart, which are irregular, usually episodic or frequent, usually occurring in normal people, and may be caused by changes in mood and bad habits. It is usually asymptomatic, but is also accompanied by palpitations or cardiac arrest.
2. Myocardial ischemia: Myocardial ischemia may cause the heartbeat to slow down, and the arteries supplying the sinus node may experience a certain degree of ischemia, which in turn may affect the heart’s corresponding conduction system, resulting in conduction block, accompanied by a pause in the heartbeat. Ischemia of the arteries supplying the sinus node can also lead to severe bradycardia in patients with heart attacks.
3. Sinus Arrest: The sinus node is dysfunctional during the cardiac cycle, resulting in one or more cardiac cycles in which no impulse occurs, and the atria and the whole heart cannot be excited, resulting in a pause in the heartbeat, which may be accompanied by palpitations and dizziness. In general, sinus arrest without symptoms and with a duration of less than 3s does not require treatment.
A pause in the heartbeat requires prompt medical attention, medication under the guidance of the doctor, and cooperation with the doctor for treatment.
