Adenoid hyperplasia in children first requires symptomatic anti-inflammatory treatment with oral anti-inflammatory medications, such as cefixime and amoxicillin, along with nebulized inhalation, as well as oral intake with Xanax drops, to see if the adenoids subside within a week. If the adenoids are still present after a week, and the patient snores more significantly, or develops hearing loss, tinnitus, and other related symptoms, surgery is required. Adenoid surgery includes adenoid scraping and plasma adenoid ablation, which requires hospitalization. Subplasma adenoid ablation is usually chosen because this procedure is safer with less risk, less intraoperative bleeding, and less traumatic with less pain that is easily accepted by the patient. The patient can be discharged from the hospital about one week after the operation. Antibiotics need to be applied after the operation to avoid local infection.
