How long does it take for conjunctivitis to heal?

Conjunctivitis is an inflammation and redness of the hyaline membrane covering the white of the eye and the inside of the eyelid due to irritation by bacteria, viruses, allergens, etc. It is commonly known as “pink eye”. Depending on the condition and duration of the disease, it can be classified as acute conjunctivitis, subacute conjunctivitis, or chronic conjunctivitis. The time it takes to heal varies, as follows: 1. Acute conjunctivitis: Mostly seen in acute infectious eye disease caused by bacteria and viruses, the onset of the disease is urgent, the condition is heavy, conjunctival congestion is severe, increased secretions, patients often appear photophobia, lacrimation, foreign body sensation. In summer and autumn, local treatment is the main, the application of antibiotics and other drugs to treat the course of the disease can generally be cured in about a week. 2, subacute conjunctivitis: the opposite of acute conjunctivitis, but its symptoms are less severe than acute conjunctivitis, but its course is longer than acute generally a week to three weeks, not more than three weeks. Chronic conjunctivitis: symptoms are not obvious, foreign body sensation and conjunctival congestion are not particularly obvious. It can also be prolonged from acute conjunctivitis to a longer course from a few weeks to several months or even longer. The reason for the infection is different and the treatment measures are not the same. It is not recommended to use private medication to treat conjunctivitis to see an ophthalmologist in time to identify the cause and treat it correctly so as not to delay the treatment and prolong the disease.
