The color of stool in terminal patients is usually yellow, but some patients may have dark green stool when they are unable to eat for a long time. Most terminally ill patients have a combination of multiple diseases, especially multiple organ failure, which may cause stress ulcers and gastric ulcers that can easily lead to gastrointestinal bleeding, and it is common to see fresh blood in the stool at the time of death. It is possible that gastrointestinal bleeding may occur before death and no bowel movements may occur, and when the stool is passed at the time of death, it may be black tarry stool. Therefore, the color of stool in terminally ill patients is not always black, and there are commonly a variety of colors with no obvious specificity.
