What causes flocculent shadows in the lungs?



Flocculent shadows in the lungs can be due to a variety of different reasons. Some of the common causes of flocculent shadows in the lungs are tuberculosis, pneumonia, and chronic bronchitis.

1. Tuberculosis: Primary tuberculosis can be visualized as flocculent hyperdense shadows, or flaky or large flaky hyperdense shadows, whose edges are usually blurred.

2. Pneumonia: Bacterial pneumonia caused by bacterial infection and pneumonia caused by fungal infection can be seen as flocculent shadows on imaging. Some patients may also see a large fuzzy shadow in the lungs.

3. Chronic bronchitis: Long-term smoking or exposure to air pollution, inhalation of large amounts of dust, etc., can cause chronic bronchitis, which can be manifested as increased and distorted lung texture, flocculent shadows in the lungs.

There are many reasons for flocculent shadows in the lungs, which should be diagnosed by combining clinical manifestations and laboratory tests.
