What causes coronary atherosclerosis?

Common causes of coronary atherosclerosis include long-term smoking, alcohol consumption, hypertension and diabetes. Coronary atherosclerosis is a condition in which lipid-like substances are deposited in the walls of coronary arteries, forming atheromatous plaques, leading to narrowing of coronary arteries or even complete blockage, resulting in myocardial ischemia and hypoxia, or even necrosis. It is closely related to the following factors: 1. Long-term smoking: tobacco will make the human body in a long-term chronic inflammatory state, will have damage to the vascular endothelium, which promotes the deposition of lipids in the coronary artery vascular endothelium, and then may trigger coronary atherosclerosis. 2. Alcohol consumption: alcohol is a high-calorie food, often drinking alcohol, will lead to obesity, abnormal lipid metabolism, which will aggravate the deposition of lipids in the coronary arteries, triggering coronary atherosclerosis. 3. Hypertension: blood pressure maintained at a high level for a long time will lead to endothelial damage, aggravate lipid deposition in the coronary artery, triggering coronary atherosclerosis. 4. Diabetes mellitus: after suffering from diabetes mellitus, the metabolism of blood sugar and blood lipid will be disturbed, which will aggravate the formation of coronary artery atherosclerosis. In order to prevent coronary atherosclerosis, we should quit smoking and drinking, follow the doctor’s instructions to treat high blood pressure, diabetes, and follow the doctor’s instructions to control blood fat.
