What is a bacterial culture

Bacterial culture is a test that finds the source of an infection and can clarify exactly what kind of infection it is. Because bacteria are relatively small, it is impossible to know exactly which bacteria are present and what kind of infection is present in a person’s body without bacterial culture. So the patient’s blood or other body fluids are collected and placed in an in vitro adapted environment for culture, allowing the bacteria that may be present to grow in large numbers so that their growth reaches the lower limit of detection, which can be tested by laboratory tests, and then further information is given to the clinic as to what antibiotics are effective. So, bacterial cultures are performed, not so that the bacteria grow better in vivo, but to grow better in vitro. The purpose is to be able to go in the clinic and detect the bacteria and know exactly what the infection is.
